High Performance Computational Methods for

Coupled Fields and GAFD Turbulence

This project represents the merger of two NSF HPCC Grand Challenge projects "High Performance Computational Methods for Coupled Field Problems" and "Coherent Structures and Dynamics in Geophysical and Astrophysical Turbulent Flows". The Coupled Fields component of this overall project addresses the parallel simulation of the dynamic interaction of a 3-D aircraft structure and its surrounding fluid traversed in transonic through hypersonic regimes. The GAFD Turbulence portion attacks the problems of fluid turbulence in geophysically and astrophysically motivated circumstances.
