Next Monday (8/3/98) ESnet will be upgrading their network connection
into Argonne National Labs to native PIM protocal. This will give us
the ability to do multicasting at high bit rates across the wide area
protion of the network. On Tuesday Bob Olsen will push up the
bandwidth on the test signal he is transmitting. To see it point your
vic tool at:
vic -f h261 -t 127 -I 11 -C "ANL Test" 224.2.219.1/61748 &
You should be able to see a low-bandwidth source at 140.221.9.172.
The change to take place on Tuesday will be to push the bitrate for
this test up to 1 mb/s to test the mrouted links in the local nets in
various locations.
Since everyone is able to see the low bitrate image by either SDR or
launching the VIC tool from the cammand line the experiment should now
attempt to start using the network for live traffic.
<bigger>I believe it is time to try a multicast from the Argonne CAVE
using Many Worlds. To do this we need to bring Bob Olsen on line and
it would probably be wise to have the researchers involved for this as
well.
