Downdrafts and upflows

• Cool intergranular sheets. Intersections merge into downdrafts.
• Downdrafts obtain high speeds and persists to the depth of the simulations ( pressure scale heights).
• Warm non-turbulent upflows
• Turbulence and vorticity on ``boundaries'' between upflows and downdrafts.
• Overturning occurs at all depths.
