Good day! I am Ben Brown, a graduate student in the Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences Department (APS) at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

I am not teaching this spring, though students of ASTR 1040 and ASTR 1120 can find resources from Spring 2004 and Spring 2005 at the above links and on my teaching page. I do not have any office hours right now, but if you would like to drop in and find me, I'm likely to either be in my office in the JILA tower, room A504 (that's on the fifth floor, North side) or somewhere like here.

My research is with Juri Toomre and currently focuses on two areas: computational simulations of rotating sun-like stars and the exploration of subsurface flows with local helioseismology in the vicinity of active regions. Information on both can be found on my Research page. I went to college in Claremont, California at Harvey Mudd College, a member of the Claremont Collective. I graduated with a physics degree after working with Ann Esin and Bryan Penprase. I was enticed into the realm of astrophysical research, and especially solar research, by the emitable Herschel Snodgrass in the Physics department of Lewis and Clark College. Prior to living in Claremont, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, both on the Washington coast and in Portland, Oregon.
