OK, I've setup accounts on mhd2 and liturchi, using the login name and
passwd you provided. Please let me know if you have any trouble
logging in. If available on your systems at NASA, please use SSH to
access mhd2 and liturchi.
As you may or may not know, each machine is a dual R10000 SGI Octane
running IRIX 6.4. Each is attached to our campus ATM network, which
in turn is attached to the vBNS. In order to access liturchi & mhd2
over the ATM network, it is necessary to use their hostnames with a
'-atm' suffixed, eg, mhd2-atm.uchicago.edu and
liturchi-atm.uchicago.edu (the names w/o the -atm suffix refer to
their ethernet interfaces). The routes out of mhd2 and liturchi are
set to use the ATM network for non-local networks.
Our ATM network currently does not support IP multicast, at least not
in the Classical IP mode (and we're not currently using LANE).
