Getting our telescope ready for the big event Some of the crowd at Douglas, WY, KOA campground Another part of the crowd - not very dense, it is Wyoming after all I view towards our tent-site. Top of our car at right edge
Annelise was first to spot a bite taken out of the Sun A picture through eclipse glasses ...and a better one :-) A picture through my 8inch Celestron with Sun filter
The sun-spot group at center are covered, but notice spots at limb Another picture through eclipse glasses - 36mins after first one The rhine-stones on Annelise's shirt reflect the eclipsing Sun ...a close-up, and the eclipse has progressed a bit more
Annelise is VERY excited. It has cooled down and the light has faded - but is still daylight blue! Getting closer to totality - and sillier! Annelise in observing mode Starting an audio count-down, so we know when to put sun-filters back on
Getting very close to totality Totality!!! The best our little Canon can do :-/ A little better - zoomed in
This is awesome!!! The Sun's surface is appearing again - through the telescope Eclipse glasses are back on The light is distinctly bluer and sharper than normally with low light
A lot of happy 'campers', sharing their experiences. Another view of the reappearing Sun through the telescope We stayed in Douglas for a bit and saw this magnificent bald eagle A jack-alope - the state animal of Wyoming!
They are usually a bit smaller than this... The local communications tower - A popular hang-out for turkey vultures The slow way home. A continous ribbon of red tail-lights - probably stretching all the way to Denver. Got home at 2:30am!
