Rotating, Stably Stratified, Incompressible Turbulence
The combined influences of rotation and stable stratification have a
strong influence on the evolution and resulting structures in a
turbulent fluid. Different regimes of rotation and stratification are
being studied in two projects.
Quasi-Geostrophic Turbulence
The case of asymptotically strong stratification and asymptotically fast
rotation is called Quasi-Geostrophy.
Boussinesq Turbulence
The more general Boussinesq equations also capture regimes of weaker
stratification and rotation.
